Using the Network Connection Transfer Mode
Network Connection Transfer mode will utilize two instances of Data Transfer, one on the source PC and one on the destination PC. The source PC automatically searches the local network subnet for the destination PC instance and immediately begins the transfer process.
Step 1 – Run Data Transfer on the Destination PC.
- On the destination PC, launch an instance of the Data Transfer app.
- From the main menu, select Network Connection
- Next, select the Destination
If prompted, be sure to allow the app to communicate on both Private and Public networks.
- The destination PC is now ready to begin receiving file transfers.
Step 2 – Run Data Transfer on the Source PC.
- On the source PC, launch an instance of the Data Transfer app.
- From the main menu, select Network Connection
- Next, select the Source
If prompted, be sure to allow the app to communicate on both Private and Public networks.
- Next, select the file locations to transfer. For convenience, we have provided seven common user folders.
- To select other folders, click the + button and select folders as needed.
- Once all folders have been selected, click the transfer button.
The Data Transfer tool will create a folder/file manifest, calculate the total disk size requirements and then automatically begin transferring files to the network destination instance.
Step 3 – Wait for transfer to complete
Step 4 – Once the transfer is complete, close all instances.
