During PC Inspector initialization, a prompt will display advising that Windows System Event Logs will be analyzed. To skip this check, click the SKIP button.
Once PC Inspector has initialized, the main console will display.
Main Console
The main console provides four functions:
- Default Check - The Default Check will perform a brief check on core hardware only (CPU, Mainboard, RAM, HDD and Monitor)
- Extended Check - The Extended Check will perform a complete system check on all detected components (CPU, Cache, Mainboard, RAM, HDD, ODD, Card Reader, LAN, Wifi, Battery, TouchPad, Keyboard, Webcam, Bluetooth, USB, Audio, Video, and Monitor)
- Memory Check Only - The Memory Check will perform testing on the memory subsystem such as Memory Controller, Memory Modules and CPU Cache.
- System Information -The System Information function will display brief information on the System Under Test.
Running Tests
To run testing, simply select one of the three test options from the main console. For advanced testing using customizable scripts, please refer to the PC Inspector Scripting Guide.
Test Status
Once testing has been initiated, PC Inspector will display a simple test status window.
- Check Type: Refers to the type of diagnostic test selected. (Default, Core, Memory Only and Custom.)
- Loop Count: Displays the current test loop.
- Test Status: Displays real time test status
- Components queued for testing: Displays the component category, brief identifying info, and color coded to easily identify the test status of each component.
- General Info and System Utilization: Displays Test Duration, CPU Temperature, GPU Temperature, GPU Fan Speed and Memory/CPU Usage.
- Overall Test Progress bar and Subtest Progress bar.
- SMART L.E.D. Indicators: (From left to right)
- The Gear icon represents enabled devices and will display green if all device ok or red if some devices/components are disabled or have issues that will prevent testing on one or more devices.
- The world icon represents Internet Access availability. Green identifies internet access is available while red means no internet access is present.
- The Windows icon represents the Windows Event log and errors that have been detected for current day.
- The Platter icon represents the primary disk drive. A red icon indicates a HDD SMART error while a green icon identifies the HDD SMART status is OK.
- Advanced Component Detection: Identifies if RAID, DX, OGL, USB 3.0 are detected and initialized on the system under test.
